Due to the closure of the Rhine Valley Route Kombiverkehr will not be able to offer the intermodal routes Hamburg - Basel v.v. and Cologne/Wuppertal - Basel v.v. until probably 7 October 2017. As substitute transportation Kombiverkehr offers alternative routes to and from Karlsruhe. In our opinion, the terminal in Karlsruhe is - for the mentioned period of time - the nearest, qualified station for the traffic from and to Switzerland. The 53rd Exemption of the StVZO (44 tonnes total weight for pre- and on-carriage traffic for the combined transport) is therefore applicable to the substitute transportation to and from Karlsruhe.
