Increase in tonnages for Hamburg – Duisburg v.v. and Hamburg – Kiel v.v. routes

Our customers have been profiting from a higher tonnage limit since 4 March 2019: the maximum
weight that can be carried on the Hamburg – Duisburg route is now 2,000 metric tons rather than the
previous 1,600 tons. The tonnage limit in the opposite direction, Duisburg – Hamburg, had already
been increased to 2,000 in 2018. These higher limits deliver a significant boost to train capacities.
We have also been able to boost the capacity of the train on the Hamburg – Kiel v.v. route in
collaboration with the participating railway operating company by increasing the maximum tonnage. In
this case the limit is now 1,800 metric tons.
