Kombiverkehr resumes Coevorden/Bad Bentheim – Malmö service

  • Malmö Kombiterminal new starting and destination point in Sweden
  • Over 900 kilometres in less than 24 hours
  • Onward connections to and from Rotterdam and Norway and within Sweden

(Frankfurt/Main, 26 November 2015) On 27 November Kombiverkehr KG, Europe's biggest supplier of intermodal transport, will be adding the route between Coevorden/Bad Bentheim and Malmö back to its product range following completion of the construction work that had resulted in the closure of the line. The direct train supplements the current Scandinavian services via the fixed crossing between Cologne and Sweden and the products using the Baltic Sea ports.

With two departures a week in each direction – Tuesdays and Fridays from Coevorden and Bad Bentheim and Wednesdays and Saturdays from Malmö – containers, swap bodies and cranable semitrailers with profile P400 will cover the more than 900 km-long track via the Öresund bridge in less than 24 hours. From the Malmö Kombiterminal, operated by Mertz Transport AB, shipments can be fed into the Scandinavian network of Green Cargo, continuing either further into Sweden, to destinations such as Stockholm, Sundsvall or Umea, or on to Oslo, Trondheim or Bergen in Norway. The eco-friendly direct train will benefit from a key connection to and from the Netherlands via a train service run by EuroTerminal Emmen-Coevorden-Hardenberg B.V. to and from Rotterdam RSC. "With just one booking, forwarders and logistics companies can connect the three countries of the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden together and enjoy the benefits of efficient and economic connections on this transport corridor", says Peter Dannewitz, Sales Director of the Frankfurt-based company.

The service can be booked using the modified online booking system that has been available to customers of the company since the middle of the year.
