Italy services: more trains, more capacity and more gateway options
12/21/2020

With a new direct train, increases in capacity and a change of terminal for services between Germany and its key trading partner, Italy, Kombiverkehr is offering a wider spectrum of intermodal services on this leading European transport corridor.

  • New from February 2021: direct Lübeck – Verona v.v. train with fast connection to and from Sweden and Finland
Kombiverkehr is to enhance the attractiveness of intermodal transport on the important north-south corridor between Scandinavia, Finland, the Baltic states and Italy with an additional block train product. Starting on 1 February 2021, a new direct train will run three times a week in each direction between Lübeck-Skandinavienkai and Verona Quadrante Europa in northern Italy via the Brenner Pass. This means that fast and highly efficient gateway connections by rail and ferry to and from Sweden and Finland can now be booked with Kombiverkehr all the way to the destination terminals. A timetable coordinated with the ferry companies enables transport units with a profile up to P400 to reach southern Sweden from Verona in less than 48 hours or Finland in 72 hours.

  • Ten departures a week in each direction between Ludwigshafen and Verona from 15 February 2021
We will increase the frequency of services on the route between Ludwigshafen and Verona Quadrante Europa. Starting on 15 February, there will be ten departures a week in each direction. We are offering an additional departure from Ludwigshafen on Mondays and in the opposite direction on Tuesdays.
  • Six return trips a week between Hanover and Verona
Kombiverkehr has offered six weekly train departures in each direction on the Hanover-Verona v.v. route since September. In both directions the additional train will depart on Saturdays. With their attractive times for close of acceptance and the start of collection, the existing Monday-to-Friday departures in the north-south direction and Tuesday-to-Friday and Saturday departures in the south-north direction will remain unchanged. On 12 December services stopped running to the Verona Quadrante Europa terminal and began serving the immediately adjacent Verona Interterminal instead. The change of terminal is intended to enable shorter handling times for the delivery and collection of transport units in Verona.
  • Munich-Melzo train rerouted to Milano FS
The onward connections within Germany or within the countries connected in the international network that are available with a large number of Kombiverkehr trains allow forwarders and logistics companies to profit from a one-stop solution for their transport requirements. To exploit this advantage on services between Munich and the greater Milan area, Kombiverkehr is now serving Milano FS rather than the terminal in Melzo. This significant northern Italian rail hub offers forwarding services to and from Pomezia, Napoli and Catania in central and southern Italy. The Munich – Milano FS train will run three times a week in each direction: from Munich on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from Milano FS on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
