Correct marking of national waste shipments
09/07/2016

In the recent past there have been increasing problems with the marking of national waste shipments. A search for the possible causes of these problems has revealed the following incorrect procedures:

1. When checking in at the terminals, the truck drivers close the A boards before the member of the check-in staff is at the vehicle. This means that he is unable to identify that the shipment contains waste and so cannot put a tick in the waste field in the check-in report.

2. Frequently no waste documents are presented at the agency, so that agency staff are unable to tell the truck driver that he has to report to the desk of the railway operating company. Since the railway operating companies do not mark on site, a copy of the waste document must be submitted for further processing.

Please, therefore, inform your truck drivers of the following requirements:

1. The A boards on the transport unit must not be closed until the check-in staff at the terminal have inspected the vehicle.

2. The truck driver must present a copy of the waste document to our agent.Compliance with these simple procedural steps will help to ensure that transport services run more smoothly.
