Südwestfalen container terminal in Kreuztal officially opened
10/22/2018
On 14 September 2018 the new Südwestfalen container terminal of Kreisbahn Siegen-Wittgenstein was officially opened at a ceremony held on the company’s grounds in Kreuztal in the presence of representatives from politics, business and logistics. Kombiverkehr partners Kreisbahn in the operation of the terminal. The terminal promises a significant improvement in the logistics activities of freight carriers. They now have an efficient transshipment facility for containers, swap bodies and semitrailers in Combined Transport right outside their front door. Previously they had to cover at least 80 to 120 kilometres in order to reach a comparable terminal. The first train will leave Kreuztal on 15 January. Its destination will be Verona in northern Italy. Running three times a week in each direction, the shuttle train will be an open train product that can be used by hauliers and logistics companies.

During the opening ceremony around 200 guests from politics, industry and logistics found out about
the construction of the terminal and future transport planning.
