New Kiel-Norwegenkai – Hamburg-Billwerder v.v. service from the start of 2019
As of now Kombiverkehr again offers a connection to Kiel-Norwegenkai via Hamburg-
Billwerder. That means Norwegenkai is once more connected to various national terminals in the
de.NETdirekt+ network and to selected international commercial centres in gateway services via
Hamburg. The first departures from Hamburg to Kiel-Norwegenkai and from Kiel-Norwegenkai are
scheduled for 11 January 2019. The shuttle train will run five times a week in both directions. As well
as Kiel-Norwegenkai, there will also be connections to Kiel-Schwedenkai and Kiel-Ostuferhafen.
At the same time, ferry company Color Line is doubling capacity on ferry services between Germany
and Norway. An additional cargo ferry will run between Kiel-Norwegenkai and Oslo, making the round
trip three times a week. It can carry dangerous goods in accordance with the IMDG Code. Only
dangerous goods of classes 1 and 7 are excluded from transport. The infrastructure at the port has
also been optimised, enabling the transfer from rail to ferry to be simplified.
