Kombiverkehr cooperating with ÖBB Rail Cargo Group on Wels – Vienna – Budapest v.v. route
01/03/2020
Kombiverkehr is splitting the range of services to and from Austria and Hungary. The change is the
result of a new cooperation agreement reached with Austrian intermodal operator RCO (Rail Cargo
Operator). The two companies will share operation and marketing of the Wels – Vienna/Budapest v.v.
route.

The first direct train offered jointly between Wels and Vienna and Budapest departed on 16 November. Since then there have been three regular weekly departures from Wels on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Trains in the opposite direction will run from Vienna on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and from Budapest on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The new cooperation allows the focus of Austrian services to be put on the Wels terminal, which offers our logistics and forwarding customers considerable added value thanks to the broad range of possible onward services, including connections to as far as southeast Europe, While there will be one less departure from the terminal in Vienna compared with the current timetable, the key Hungary connection to and from Budapest Bilk will gain an additional train departure.

Kombiverkehr is offering the Ludwigshafen – Wels v.v., Neuss – Wels v.v. and Duisburg – Wels v.v. direct trains included in the timetable with unchanged departure days and times. The bilateral Austrian trains open up access to a range of terminals in Germany, Scandinavia and western ports in gateway services.
