Kombiverkehr increases frequency of trains between Hanover and Verona
02/18/2020
  • Five weekly departures in each direction

(Frankfurt am Main, 18 February 2020) Kombiverkehr KG is expanding the existing range of services between the intermodal terminals in Hannover-Linden Hafen and Verona Quadrante Europa with an additional train departure per week in each direction. This gives forwarders and logistics companies the opportunity to consider rail in their scheduling options as a key element of the intermodal transport chain five times a week on this significant north-south corridor. Loads can now also be shipped every Thursday in both directions. The closing time for accepting semitrailers, swap bodies and tank containers in Hanover is 20:45, with collection in Verona beginning at 22:00 on Fridays. In the opposite direction the closing time for acceptance is 03:00 on Friday morning. In Hanover the transport units can then be picked up again from 06:00 the following Monday for distribution on the regional network. The Frankfurt operator provides intermodal rail transport for this route on Mondays to Fridays in the north-south direction and Tuesdays to Saturdays in the south-north direction. "In expanding the frequency of services between Hanover and Verona, we as an operator are providing further options for avoiding the existing measures introduced by the Tirol region with the aim of limiting truck traffic on the Brenner Pass route. With 110 train departures a week and multiple-day departures at selected German terminals, we now offer Italian forwarders a wide choice of services for ecofriendly logistics with added value in unaccompanied Germany-Italy Combined Transport via the Brenner Pass," says Peter Dannewitz, Head of Sales at Kombiverkehr KG. On the 1,045 kilometrelong route, users will save more than 1.5 metric tons of environmentally harmful CO2 when transporting a 25-ton trailer compared with end-to-end road freight transport.
