Kombiverkehr KG's intermodal offer stable throughout Europe
03/16/2020
  • National and international trains run according to the timetable
  • Operators, railway undertakings and terminal operators implement health measures to protect employees and maintain networks
  • Combined transport secures supply across borders

(Frankfurt/Main, 16 March 2020) Despite the further spread of the corona epidemic in all European countries, the intermodal services offered by Kombiverkehr KG, in which truck, rail and ship complement each other to form an extremely efficient and safe transport chain, can currently be used to the full by freight forwarders and logistics companies. There are currently no restrictions whatsoever on the range of services within Germany or on the bilateral connections between around 30 European countries. All trains run according to the timetable. This also applies to the more than 110 trains per week in Italy, which the company offers in particular via the Brenner Pass.

Kombiverkehr is in daily contact with all the companies involved in the transport chain, such as rail transport companies, terminal and network operators, in order to keep abreast of developments in the individual transport offers. The aim is also to be able to provide immediate alternative services as soon as any disruption to operations on the route or at the dispatch and reception terminals becomes known. "As one of the largest providers of intermodal transport in Germany and Europe, we are aware of our responsibility to maintain the system of continuous intermodal transport together with our service partners in the current existing form of comprehensive networks. In order to guarantee this, we can switch almost our entire organisation at the Frankfurt headquarters to remote and thus allow business operations to run in a changed working environment", says Managing Director Robert Breuhahn. In particular, he points out that, against the current background of the Corona pandemic, combined transport is the means of choice for transporting goods and commodities over long distances without passenger contact. The basic supply of the population and industry can thus be ensured.

Kombiverkehr has made it easier for freight forwarding companies who want to use rail for their transports in the short term to start up their business. Interested parties can contact the hotline +49 69 79505-210.
