KOMBIVERKEHR – EUROPE’S NO. 1 IN COMBINED RAIL-ROAD TRANSPORT
Kombiverkehr is a logistics service provider that develops, organises and markets a Europe-wide network for rail-road combined transport. Its services are aimed at freight forwarders and transport companies. The factors that have Kombiverkehr the European market leader include quality, cost, expertise and proximity to the customer. In 2009 the company shifted more than 19 million tonnes of goods – about 0,85 million truckloads – from road to rail, relieving the burden on our road network.
Formed in Frankfurt in 1969, the company is an equal limited partnership between some 230 freight forwarders and Intermodal DB Logistics. Close collaboration with DB Mobility Logistics AG delivers an optimal synergy of production know-how on the one hand and product know-how on the other. Kombiverkehr maintains close links to the transport market through the very close and personal contacts it has both with its partners and customers and with the working parties and the advisory board, which is made up of transporters and freight forwarders.
It is Kombiverkehr’s aim continuously to improve the economic viability and attractiveness of its range of services in order to expand national and international transport further and secure the position of combined transport in the long term. Its core business – the development, organisation and marketing of transport services – is backed up by support business fields. These include the installation and operation of cargo handling facilities, the development and maintenance of special wagons, traction and consulting. All of these support and help to enhance the quality and efficiency of our core business.
Kombiverkehr is a founding member of the UIRR (International Union of Combined Road-Rail Transport Companies). Established in 1970, the Brussels-based organisation represents the interests of European combined road-rail transport operators. Together with our UIRR partner companies and working in collaboration with public and private rail operators, we offer a dense, Europe-wide direct and shuttle train network for combined transport.
