Incidental charges
Transports with Kombiverkehr can be subject to incidental charges before, during or after shipment that are not included in the agreed transport price and are therefore billed separately. In principle, incidental charges are invoiced to the invoice recipient responsible for the transport.
Please also note the relevant versions of the Kombiverkehr price rules and the General Terms and Conditions of Business of Kombiverkehr for inland and international transports, which the staff of National and International Transport will send you on request.
On this page we give you a summary of possible additional services that may occur during the transport handling process.
Additional fee for the authorisation of unmarked units
Railway companies have not offered the system of "provisional codification" since 2007, since when it has only been possible to authorise unmarked loading units for individual transport operations. This requires an individual check to be carried out (there are exemptions for some types of loading unit), as well as special prior agreement. This procedure is subject to an additional fee.
Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF)
Some shipping companies levy an additional bunker surcharge for the use of their services in order to compensate for fluctuations in the price of fuel. The amount is determined in accordance with the costs and terms and conditions published by the shipping companies. Fluctuations are possible during the fiscal year and are notified by staff in National and International Transport at Kombiverkehr.
Cancellation fee
A cancellation charge is levied if a booked loading unit is not delivered and written notice of cancellation or rebooking is either not received at all or only received after the close of scheduling on the day of dispatch. The amount is specified in Kombiverkehr price lists and quotes.
Charges for customs inspection and other officially prescribed controls and checks
Official checks may be ordered for loading units that are subject to customs control. Should this result in additional costs, e.g. the provision of loading units for inspection by customs, these costs shall be passed on to the customer with the addition of a handling charge. Any costs incurred as a result of other officially prescribed controls and checks shall also be charged with the addition of a handling charge.
Charges for the fuelling of cooling units and power supply points
Special loading units are required for the transport of temperature-controlled goods. On request, arrangements can be made, if locally possible, for the fuelling by Kombiverkehr of cooling units or power supply points for cooling or heating. The costs incurred shall be charged on a time and material basis with the addition of a handling charge.
Charges for order amendments / subsequent instructions
Order amendments are subject to a charge under certain circumstances, e.g. if services have already been rendered. These costs shall be passed on to the invoice recipient on a time and material basis with the addition of a handling charge.
Charges for the removal of defects on loading units
If defects prevent loading units from being transported (e.g. cargo slippage, damage to loading units preventing secure shipment, missing or inadequate hazardous goods labels etc.), any essential repairs can, if possible, be carried out with the customer's agreement. The costs thus incurred shall be passed on to the customer with the addition of a handling charge.
Charges for supplementary crane and reloading operations
Any supplementary crane and reloading operations not included in our quoted prices shall be invoiced separately. A customer order is normally required for this to be done.
Charges for transit consignments and offers from partner companies
With an existing respite account with Kombiverkehr it is possible to make use of products and services from partner companies (accompanied and unaccompanied road-rail Combined Transport) as well as those offered by Kombiverkehr. The transport approvals required to do this may be requested from staff in National and International Transport at Kombiverkehr in compliance with the necessary requirements. The services shall be charged with the addition of a handling charge.
Charges for veterinary and phytosanitary controls
In certain cases, loading units containing products of vegetable and animal origin are subject to official controls. We shall pass on the costs of any charges levied for the implementation of controls by the authorities to the customer with the addition of a handling charge.
Demurrage for the late pick-up of loading units with hazardous goods in DUSS terminals
Hazardous goods are to be picked up in the DUSS terminals on the day of arrival, but no later than during the opening hours of the next work day. If loading units are not picked up within this period, a demurrage fee per loading unit and calendar day will be charged. In the case of Gateway traffic, only the end terminal is affected, in the case of transshipments (broken transports) the transshipment terminals are also affected.
En-route costs
Appropriate action must be taken if the customer retrospectively amends orders or if obstacles to shipment occur. Any expense incurred in this way is summarised under the general term "En-route costs". These costs are charged to the customer with the addition of handling fees.
Examples of these are:
- Charges for the removal of defects on loading units
- Charges for order amendments / subsequent instructions
- Charges for supplementary crane and reloading operations
- Charges for veterinary and phytosanitary controls
