Kombiverkehr: better performance during Brenner Closure than expected
“It went better than expected and all the stakeholders in Combined Transport have shown that they can overcome even major challenges. Even so, we do not want to have to go through this a second time. Never again must there be a total closure of a central European transit corridor.” That was the conclusion about the closure of the Brenner Pass drawn by Armin Riedl, general manager of Kombiverkehr, following the conclusion of upgrading works on the track in Austria and an analysis of all train data.

The Brenner Pass, which was closed for more than three months, is now fully open again. Construction work on the Brenner route was completed on schedule on Sunday evening, and all trains going to or from Italy via the Brenner Pass have been running to the normal timetable again since this week.

Terminal bottlenecks eliminated: Kombiverkehr introduces new trains
Thanks to the progressive elimination of terminal bottlenecks in Germany, Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG can now increase capacity in its own network and introduce new trains. Since today, for instance, an additional train will run for the first time between the Köln-Eifeltor and München-Riem CT terminals.
