This week three direct trains will link the industrial regions of the northern Czech Republic and the south of Poland with those of northern Italy in combined road-rail transport (CT) for the very first time. The trains, on which containers, swap bodies and semitrailers can be carried, will run three times a week in each direction between Ostrava in the Czech Republic and Verona in Italy.

Hazardous goods brochures are now available to download from our website. These have been revised together with the UIRR and are available in seven languages (German, English, French, Italian, Slovenian, Spanish and Dutch).

The address of the Kombiverkehr agency in Dörpen has changed.

Since 14 October 2011 it has also been possible to transport hazardous goods in classes 1.3 and 1.4 to and from the Neuss-Hessentor terminal.

We should once more point out that hazardous goods labels on all types of loading units must be affixed securely enough to ensure that they will not come off the units during transport – both by road and by rail.

You can now book your shipments from the Köln-Eifeltor terminal electronically.

The Norwegian partner company CargoNet AS informed Kombiverkehr at the end of October that its Swedish subsidiary, CargoNet AB, is suspending all its activities in Sweden when the timetable changes (from 11.12.2011).

Loading units that contain only expandable polymeric beads (UN 2211, class 9) do not need a model 9 danger label. The class must be indicated with the UN number in the booking or shipping document. Further information can be found in 5.4.1.1.1 c) 3rd dash ADR/RID.

Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene-Straße (DUSS) mbH has announced that the operating and control system (BLU) will be introduced in the DUSS Munich-Riem terminal on 10 October 2011. The system enables better support for terminal operations and helps to shorten processing times for trucks.

A new computer-assisted self-check-in procedure was introduced at the Danish Høje Taastrup terminal on 1 September 2011. An additional PIN number, which is sent to the customer in advance, is now needed for the collection and delivery of loading units.

In response to the positive demand on routes to and from Kiel, Kombiverkehr increased the frequency of departures of the Kiel – Hamburg v.v. shuttle service from five to six departures per week and direction from 11 September 2011.

From 1 October 2011 Kombiverkehr is boosting its services between the Rhine-Neckar region and northern Germany and the German Baltic Sea ports.

Yesterday Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG launched a new train concept linking Germany and Poland which is set to significantly enhance the service and reliability of the environmentally-friendly rail haulage system. A direct train service will run three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - between Duisburg and Poznan
